Miaoulia Festival

Miaoulia is a festival, dedicated to Greek Admiral Miaoulis's military action during the Greek War of Independence (1821-1827). It takes place every year in the end of June.

Andreas Vokos Miaoulis was the one who leads his fellow fighters from Hydra to set on fire one of the Turkish frigates. Fireworks, music, traditional dances, sports competitions accompany this event making it a three day celebration period and a part of the ‘Navy Week’.
